Thank you for offering to volunteer with The Sew In Group! As a valued part of our community, your support helps create a welcoming, safe, and empowering space for all involved. Please read this agreement to confirm your understanding and commitment to our volunteer program.

Volunteer Agreement

  1. Role and Responsibilities
    As a volunteer, you agree to perform duties as outlined by The Sew In Group, both within our sewing studio and during any events or activities held off-site. Specific responsibilities may include assisting with setup, providing sewing guidance, facilitating discussions, and ensuring a supportive atmosphere.

  2. Confidentiality
    Volunteers may encounter personal information about participants. To maintain a respectful and safe environment, you agree to uphold the confidentiality of all participants, refraining from disclosing any personal details or sensitive discussions outside The Sew In Group community.

  3. Code of Conduct
    As a representative of The Sew In Group, you agree to:

  • Treat all participants, staff, and fellow volunteers with respect.

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and non-judgmental environment.

  • Report any issues or concerns to The Sew In Group staff promptly.

    4. Health and Safety

Volunteers are responsible for following all health and safety guidelines provided by The Sew In Group. This includes being aware of emergency procedures, reporting hazards, and using provided equipment responsibly.

Volunteer Waiver

  1. Assumption of Risk
    By volunteering, you acknowledge that certain activities, whether on or off The Sew In Group premises, may carry inherent risks. You agree to assume all risks associated with your volunteer activities and responsibilities such as  exposure to heavy machinery, sharp objects, raw materials. small craft equipment, hazardous chemicals and cluttered spaces..

  2. Liability Release
    You understand that The Sew In Group, its directors, staff, and affiliates are not responsible for any injury, illness, or damage that may occur as a result of your volunteer service. You release and discharge The Sew In Group from any claims or liability arising from your participation.

  3. Media Release
    The Sew In Group may take photos, videos, or recordings of volunteers for promotional purposes. By signing this waiver, you consent to the use of your image and voice in these materials, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

  4. Termination
    Either party may terminate this volunteer agreement at any time. In the case of behaviour that contradicts our code of conduct or threatens participant safety, The Sew In Group reserves the right to dismiss a volunteer.
