If you have completed any of our Beginner Garment making courses or have had previous experience using simple sewing patterns but want to develop your garment making skills further, it's time for the next step. This 12 hour /4 week workshop is the perfect introduction into starting your garment making journey. In class you will practise an array of techniques and produce a Comfy Lounge Robe.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

Sizing and Body Measurements

How to cut and pin fabric using a simple pattern

Comprehend sewing patterns

Transfer pattern notations to fabric

How to use fabric lay plans and cutting the fabric

Neat and professional finishing

Mastering these essential skills will give you the confidence to start more advanced sewing projects and will give you a good foundation to begin making up garments using commercial dressmaking patterns.

WHAT TO BRING:

Standard Sewing Supplies (Scissors, Seam Gauge, Measuring Tape Pins etc) - however you are welcome to use our tools.

Materials required:

Below are some suggested fabrics that will make your robe comfortable to wear depending on the time of year.

Autumn/Winter: Brushed cotton, flannelette, Waffle Cotton.

Spring/Summer: 100% cotton, cotton lawn, cotton gauze or viscose twill.

Fabric quantities for robes will be sent upon booking. Robe sizes range between XS - XXL

He IMPORTANT TIP: Pre-wash and iron your fabric prior to the class as these fabrics will shrink on the first wash!! If you intend to tumble dry your pyjamas then be sure to tumble dry the fabric too, to maximise any further shrinkage prior to cutting and sewing your pyjamas.

SKILL LEVEL: 2 Advanced Beginner

This class is suitable for anyone who already knows how to operate and use a sewing machine proficiently, has a clear understanding of working with seam allowances and have worked with simple sewing patterns before.
